Osprey

Two weeks ago, rainy Saturday morning, someone stopped the boys and I at the Farmers Market.  "Hey, are you Lesley's husband?"  She had just seen an Osprey tangled in fishing line by the river, had called the Wildlife Dept., but was not confident that anyone was responding to her call.  She wanted to call Lesley, but didnt have her number.  I told her I would call Lesley and ride by there on the way home.  We got there to find everything under control and we got to get a great look at the rescued Osprey.

Museum Weekend

This was awhile back now but we must capture it: a weekend when Mommy was on Colorado and I took the boys to the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.

We stayed with Aunt JenJen and uncle Dave which the boys loved.  One thing here we learned: Annie lived Curious George... because Heath mindlessly rubbed her constantly when watching it. 

 And here are a few pics from the museum and the Capital grounds.  We went on Sat and Sunday. So much to see. Just a great place to hang out an soak in what you could.

The boys first 3-D movie, about sharks.  And honestly my first where I actually "saw" it.  (For those of you who know my eye history.)

Drawing

Alder and I drew a dragon the other night. We revisited how to make it look like tubes, lines, etc. are entering and exiting things

Then Lesley pointed out this morning how they had drawn on these pumpkins to make it look like the eyeballs were coming out.  What a neat transfer. 

Lazy (and not so lazy) Weekends

We live in a great city where there is more to do on any given weekend than we could ever take advantage of, even if we wanted to.  We like to occassionally delve into the culture that city life brings, though sometimes it can be tough to pull us away from the slow (albeit rarely lazy) weekend days around the house.  We are apart from each other and gone to work and school all week, that we savor these weekends at home, just the four of us.

Recently, we walked around the block and got into some poke berry juice…Alder was acting like it was blood.  He is preparing to be a zombie for halloween.

A few weekends ago, I took the boys to Hollywood cemetery for a walk.  This is a very historic and beautiful cemetery overlooking the James River.  The boys loved walking around and then started using my phone to take pictures of "snow leopard" on various tombstones.  Weird, yes, but I liked their creativity…..it was in no way dispresepctful.

And this past weekend, we ventured out to the Richmond Folk Festival.  A free, weekend-long festival celebrating music and culture from around the world.  We only went one afternoon, but it was awesome.  Here is view as we walked into the venue - one stage with the James River behind.

 Alder is finally getting one of his upper teeth after months of nothing but gum!  Going to change his appearance greatly.  Sigh.
